Jafe Cycling Foundation

Founded in 2022, the Jafe Cycling Foundation is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm of Jafe Cycling, created in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic to promote youth health, wellness, and social-emotional development through the sport of cycling. Our mission is to make cycling accessible to youth nationwide by establishing sustainable programs in elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as recreation centers across the country.
We believe cycling can transform lives, teaching discipline, resilience, teamwork, and environmental awareness while providing a healthy outlet for physical activity and emotional growth.
Core Capabilities
- Youth Cycling Program Development: Design and implement structured cycling curriculums for schools and community centers.
- Skill-Based Training: Teach fundamental bicycle handling, balance, and safety, from beginner to competitive levels.
- Health & Wellness Integration: Promote cycling as a holistic approach to physical fitness and mental well-being.
- Workforce Development: Provide internships and job placement through partnerships with Jafe Cycling’s Bike Shop retail operations.
- Community Partnerships: Collaborate with schools, local governments, and health organizations to scale impact nationally.
Program Evaluation
The Foundation’s Cycling Enrichment Program employs both a process and outcomes evaluation. These processes include establishing formal partnerships with schools, holding interest meetings to promote the program, enrolling students, and holding weekly sessions.
In focusing on student/participants outcomes, the program utilizes an results-based evaluation. The previously mentioned individualized plans will be used to determine how participants are progressing towards goal attainment. The weekly check-ins will ensure that students stay on track and/or will allow for early intervention and support. In meeting each student where they are, outcomes measured has shown improved school attendance (target goal of a minimum of 25% increase), program attendance and participation (target goal of a minimum of 90% attendance), and individual milestone achievements (e.g., participating in a cycling race, obtaining job/internship, receiving related certifications, etc.).
